Mossy Wall at Wales — fine art landscape photography print by Liam Hancox

Mossy Wall

There’s something almost fairy-tale about this one — the gnarled trees twisting out of the fog, the moss-covered wall curving away into grey, the bare branches reaching across the frame. It doesn’t look entirely real.

The vivid green of the moss is the only colour in the whole scene. Everything else fades to grey as the fog swallows the trees in the background. That contrast is what drew me to the composition.

Taking the shot was its own adventure — there was a total of zero legs of my tripod touching the ground. Balanced on top of an adjacent wall, two legs on one side, third on the other.
